  19. Description of Working Group:
  20. The purpose of this Working Group is the investigation of network
  21. configuration and reconfiguration management.  We will determine those
  22. configuration functions that can be automated, such as Internet
  23. address assignment, gateway discovery and resource location, and those
  24. which cannot be automated (i.e., those that must be managed by network
  25. administrators).

  27.  Goals and Milestones:

  29.           Write a bootp extensions document.                                   
  30.  
  31.      Done We will identify (in the spirit of the Gateway Requirements and Host 
  32.           Requirements RFCs) the information required for hosts and gateways 
  33.           to: Exchange Internet packets with other hosts, Obtain packet routing
  34.           information, Access the Domain Name System, and Access other local 
  35.           and remote services.

  37.      Done We will summarize those mechanisms already in place for managing the 
  38.           information identified by Objective 1.

  40.      Done We will suggest new mechanisms to manage the information identified 
  41.           by Objective 1.

  43.      Done Having established what information and mechanisms are required for 
  44.           host operation, we will examine specific scenarios of dynamic host 
  45.           configuration and reconfiguration, and show how those scenarios can 
  46.           be resolved using existing or proposed management mechanisms.
